(Air) Fried Apples

A kid-approved snack the whole family will love!

I'm always looking for healthy, after-school snacks for my kids ... and since my weight loss surgery, low- to no-sugar snacks for myself. This recipe is a win, win for both the kiddos and me. If you prefer to not use sweeteners, it can be made with regular sugar as well - just replace each sweetener packet with 1 tablespoon of sugar. My girls love them right out of the air-fryer while they are still warm and gooey.

(Air) Fried Apples

(Serving size is 1 able per person - recipe is for 1 apple)

Ingredients:

1 medium apple

1 packet of sweetener (1 tab. of sugar can also be used)

2 tea. cinnamon

Cooking spray

Directions:

  1. Wash apple(s).
  2. Core and slice apple(s).
  3. Put apple slices in large zipper bag. Add sweetener (or sugar) and cinnamon to bag and shake to coat.
  4. Place apple slices on air-fryer safe plate or tray in single layer. Spray apple slices with cooking spray.
  5. Air-fry @ 450° for 5 minutes (add a minute or two for additional apples).
  6. Let sit one minute and then ENJOY!

(Notes: I leave the skins on to up the fiber and nutritional value; but if you have a little one that doesn't like the skin, it can be removed before seasoning. I use a stevia-based sugar replacement, since it cooks/bakes like sugar. Also, keep an eye on them if you are air-frying multiple apples for more than 5 minutes ... they will burn if left in too long.)
